Vibrating screen is a device that uses vibration force to make the screen body vibrate regularly, thereby realizing the screening, grading and separation of particulate materials4. The working principles of different types of vibrating screens are different in details. The following is an introduction to the principles of some common vibrating screens:
Linear vibrating screen 1: The screen box relies on two identical vibration motors to rotate synchronously in opposite directions, so that the entire screen machine supported on the shock absorber vibrates linearly. After the material falls into the screen box from the feed end, it quickly moves forward, loosens, and passes through the screen to complete the screening operation. By adjusting the magnitude of the exciting force of the vibration motor, the vibration amplitude of the screen machine can be changed.
Rotary vibrating screen: The heavy hammer (unbalanced heavy hammer) installed above and below the motor shaft is used to convert the rotational motion of the motor into horizontal, vertical, and inclined three-dimensional motion, and then this motion is transmitted to the screen surface, so that the material moves outward on the screen surface. Adjusting the phase angle of the heavy hammers at the upper and lower ends can change the motion trajectory of the material on the screen surface to meet different screening needs.
Circular vibrating screen: Usually a single-axis exciter is used, and the exciter is installed on one side or the center of the screen box. The motor drives the eccentric shaft of the vibrator to rotate, generating centrifugal force, causing the screen box to vibrate in an approximately circular or elliptical shape. The material on the screen surface is subjected to the action of vibration and gravity, and moves downward on the screen surface, while smaller particles are discharged through the screen holes to achieve screening.
Equal thickness vibrating screen: The working principle is similar to that of the linear vibrating screen, but it is different in structure and design. The screen surface of the equal thickness vibrating screen has a certain inclination angle, and the screen surface is shorter at the feed end and longer at the discharge end. This design makes the thickness of the material on the screen surface basically uniform throughout the screening process, thereby improving the screening efficiency and processing capacity.
Although there are various types of vibrating screens, their working principles are based on generating vibration force through the excitation source to vibrate the screen body, thereby causing the material to move on the screen surface to achieve the purpose of separation by particle size.
